Exercise

Whatever you are going through right now...keep moving. Movement is what kept the human race alive and evolving for thousands of years. Modern living in the 21st century brought many changes to our lives, and while some are proving to be extremely useful and problem-solving, they did bring us the infamous chair life: we are constantly sitting.

Exercise is not just sweating in neon colors or the athletic torso of a guy-next-door. It is a mental, physical and emotional tool for overcoming many obstacles you stumbled upon. If you do not know where to begin, read the list below and get inspired! Once you do, do not just delve upon it; get up and walk through your door equipped with one of nature's best weapons: intention.

  • Brisk walking is one of the most underrated forms of exercise. Listen to your favorite soundtrack or a podcast and effortlessly boost your metabolism.

  • Stop postponing that backyard project: an hour of any yard work every couple of days will completely transform your day.

  • Swim, ride a bike, walk your dog, play sports, join a gym, do yoga tutorials, get an online strength program, options are endless!

Make sure to pick something that does not interfere too much with your current lifestyle: habit making takes time.

  • Stay consistent: nobody expects that you turn into a professional athlete after a week!

  • Do not forget to enjoy! If the chosen activity feels like an obligation and you feel dreadful afterward, change it!

  • Mark a checkbox for any daily physical activity.

In Numbers

  • According to WHO, less than 5% of adults participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day

  • Physical inactivity is estimated to be the primary cause of approximately 21-25% of breast and colon cancers, 27% of diabetes and approximately 30% of ischaemic heart disease

“If a man achieves victory over this body, who in the world can exercise power over him? He who rules himself rules over the whole world. “ – Vinoba Bhave, advocate of nonviolence and human rights
